Next school year, my school is leading an iPad pilot program for our District. Two gradelevels were selected, 2nd and 5th, to be the focus of the pilot. We are the Donald Eismann Elementary Explorers and that is how we came up with our pilot group name, and the name of our blog:
I teach 2nd grade and my name is Sarah Helm.
My 2nd grade teammate, the two 1-2 Split teachers, and the two 5th grade teachers will be blogging with me and you will meet them soon!
We wanted to start this blog together to document our growth as 21st century teachers, and also, to interact with other teachers who are using iPads in their classrooms. We know there is a lot to learn and although we all agreed at our meeting this morning that we are overwhelmed, we are also extremely excited.
So, where do we start?
When rumblings began a few months ago that we might be getting iPads at my school I started a Pinterest Board to help me keep track of things I read that caught my eye. Like I said before, there is a lot to learn!
This image was also found on Pinterest, but I love the words students used to describe their interactions with the iPad in their classrooms. Click the picture to be linked to one of my favorite sites with questions and answers from teacher who use ipads in their classroom. One question, for example, is "How do you keep the students on the specific apps you want them to use?"
I can't wait to do all of those things with my 2nd graders in September!
For now... I will explore :)
